Groupon restaurant deals - any good?

My feeling is that restaurants that offer these deals tend to be useless places, empty for a reason. Am I being harsh?

I think it is like anything, there are good and bad. I have had some very good meals. When I see the same place keep coming up then I tend to avoid it.

I would say on balance they are good deals and it gives you an opportunity to try places you wouldn't other wise.
Not sure if I can mention names, but I've been treated well and no differently from full paying customers when I have used coupons for restaurants however not the same when I purchased a hair stylist deal ....

Yeah it's a real mixed-bag. I've been to some great restaurants through Groupon but I've had friends that have been to not so great ones. Check the restaurants reviews on Tripadvisor etc before buying!
  • the ones i've tried have all been good, some spectacularly so - definitely check reviews first though
