Working tax credit

Can anyone tell me if you can get working tax credits if you do not have set hours?

I am on bank work at the minute and 2 different places ( trying to get contracted hours though) I only have to work 2 shifts to be working 16 hours and its min wage, but I am not sure if you have to have a set contract to get tax credit?

Also what happens if I have one week where I dont work 16 hours ?

It isn't easy to say really.

The only rule is that your normal working hours have to be 16 (or 24 or 30 depending on your circumstances).

You don't have to have a set contract for 16 hours, but your usually need to be working 16 hours a week. It can lead to people getting overpayments as it can be difficult to work out when your hours fall/increase if they are not regular.
