Mum will help with choldcare when she can but I am a flight attendent and nature of my nature will be flying I earn basic salary of 11k and maybe an extra 5k so 16k a year I live with mum but can't when baby comes so have to apply for housing my brother lives with mum and is paranoid schizophrenic he is fine on his meds now but with baby not sure how he would cope?
I want to go back to work as soon as possible but what will I be entitled earning that sort of money
At the moment I get 700 I pay 151 car finance and 140 insurance I know it's a lot and have to drive into work to do desk duties since we can't fly so money is so bad thank go for my mum but I owe money to family!!! And I have credit union loan do if it wast for that loan I would be so much better off and car finance!
I tried part jobs no one calls me anymore not even Christmas temps jobs to be honest I will be heavily pregnant at least 7 months nearly 8 by Christmas but at the moment I could have worked even if I have less energy but no one will give me a part time job.
I am not a benefit scrounged at all never. Have been neither has mum raising 3 of she always worked full
Time I made my own sandwiches and looked after my siblings. But I am wondering just for starters will I be entitled to any help apart from maternity pay?? I will get 525 I guess I be at home with mum to start with but eventually move out? Will I be ok with say about 1100 take home pay maybe 1200 depends on the month. I just need advice.

At the moment you do not qualify for any benefits as you earn too much for working tax credits and as you live with your mother you do not qualify for HB or CTB.
Once you leave work you will get your SMP.
After the baby is born and if you work at least 16 hours a week you will be entitled to working and child tax credits and Child Benefit.
If you moved out of your mother's house and rented privately then if you didn't go back to work you would be entitled to Income Support, Child Tax Credit, full Housing Benefit (up to your local housing allowance for a one bedroomed place - you can look up that amount by googling local housing allowance and your area) and full Council Tax benefit.
If you moved out and went back to work you would be entitled to Working and Child Tax benefit, plus, maybe some HB and council tax benefit (depending on how much you earned)
This is always a difficult one to judge as to whether you would be better off going back to work as you would lose access to your full HB and CTB. You could try putting different scenarios in to the benefit calculator on www.turn2us.org.uk (click on Benefit Advice on the banner at the top and you will see the calculator)
It will be quite tight for you financially when you are on maternity leave and just receiving SMP.
You might want to have a look at the Debtfree Wannabe forum for some help with managing your debts.
Also try Freecycle for your baby stuff and don't be tempted to spend vast amounts on baby stuff when they need it for such a short time.
You might also want to put your name down on the council housing list. You would be quite high priority as you are pregnant and technically homeless (ie. have no legal 'right' to stay in your mum's house.)
However, depending on your local authority they may house you in a 'not very nice' area or a hostel. Also, you may be better off staying with your mum, at least to begin with, for support.
Don't forget to chase the father for child support.0 -
also be aware that there are changes coming in, some from next year, as regards council tax benefit and housing benefit.
But there are 2 calculators you can use to try and get a rough idea - ones on direct.gov and the other's on http://www.turn2us.org.uk/benefits_search.aspx
If you are really worried about having a baby in the house with your brother then it looks like you really need to find somewhere else to live. Not sure where you live but maybe Shelter would be able to help?

Don't forget child maintenance from the father.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.
