Barclays bank Fraud

Hi,
Can anyone advise me if Barclays can void and unusual transaction on my account? I had enough money in it and was told to ring Barclays fraud department. I had a bet on my birthday ( probably why it was an unusual transaction because I never bet). The bet won and I never got paid out. It was back in May 2009 and was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is anything I can do?
Many thanks,
Andy :j

Why are you only looking at this now?0

Because I spoke to someone who works for Natwest and he recons I might have a case.0

A case for what?
Where does fraud come into this?
Who was the bet with? How did you pay for the bet? Cash? Card?
How much was the bet for? What odds?
Did you withdraw your winnings from the bookie? If so, how? Cash, card? If not, why not?
What should Barclays void?0 -
Barclays fraud protection people phoned me and left a message to phone them back. When I did they said my bet was void because it was an unusual transaction. I just want to know if they can do this as the bet won.0

Barclays don't void bets.
It is also highly unlikely that they would call you in September/October 2012 about a (small?) transaction that took place in May 2009.
Your story is not credible, and you don't seem to be able to answer the questions I asked.andysweats wrote: »Hi,

Ive read the OP 4 times and I still haven't got a clue what you are trying to say or ask.0

A bank is well within its rights to block any transaction it feels could be fraudlent.
They can only block a certain % of transactions. Or they fall foul with FSA. And will face punishment.
So when you contacted them about this. They will have told you that the transaction was blocked and you would need to make it again.
They cant void a bet.... Only people who can do that are the bookies.
So any loss is your error. Not theirs.
All his is clearly set out in the T/C, that they have the right to decline transactions if believed to be fraud.
Systems do not work on your spending, but known fraud patterns.
What department does said friend at natwest work in?Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
Ah, ok, I am beginning to get the gist of that story. It probably went a bit like this (though andysweats seems to still be working on the details):
- andysweats opened an online bookie account and wanted to deposit some money by card. Or went into a bookies and wanted to pay by card
- Barclays declined the card transaction, so andysweats couldn't place his bet with the card (probably could have gone to the next cash point, got some cash and paid cash for that bet)
- the bet andysweats wanted to place would have won (naturally!) so he now wants compensation from Barclays for the winnings he couldn't have because he wasn't able to buy his bet
Given that all that "bet stuff" allegedly happened in May 2009, and that the whole story (in whatever version) is ridiculous, particularly the title "Barclays bank fraud", I conclude that the OP is either- inebriated or
- a troll or
- both

As the bet was not paid for, there would be no winnings to collect.
