Egg credit card reclaim question

Hi

I had an egg credit card and they called me in 2004 and offered PPI free for three months and said I could then cancel. I obviously forgot to do this and cancelled it in 2006. I tried to complain back then on the basis that I didn't remember the call and did not agree to it ( i thought they had put it on without telling me ) and claim it back but they sent me a recording of the call where i agreed to it.

I am thinking of trying to reclaim it on the basis that I already had cover from my public sector job which seems to be one of the reasons and they did not check, also it is not possible to be made redundant from my job.

Do I have a chance

Sorry as you have already complained and it was not upheld you cannot try again years down the line.

I am interested as to why you think that by working in the public sector you could not be made redundant?

but I am claiming for different reasons in that the policy was mis sold as I had no use for it and they did not check my circumstances ?

Or does complaining once rule out any future complaint even if it is for different reasons ?

well, I don't see why you can't put a complaint in. If you have the recording of the call, this makes it an advised sale. If your circumstances were not discussed during the sale, then this is a possible misselling claim. If you still have it, or can remember the conversation, see if this was discussed.

Got a letter today and Barclays ( who took over Egg ) are upholding the complaint and paying 2.5k. Only got round to complaining at the end of March so didn't take long

I sent my letter to smEGG back in May 2011, this was returned to me stating that I had "ticked" the box.... I then forwarded this to FOS... some 18 months later I am still no better off.

Has anyone else had any joy from EGG or FOS?

Mine was sold over the phone. I have read a lot of posts where people were declined as they say the boxes were not pre ticked
