Kandco not honouring award codes

I ordered an item from kandco catalogue online on Friday evening (28/9/12). All over their website was displayed an award code offering £10 off any items over £50. My item was well over this amount so I entered it in. I got an error message saying it had either expired or was not yet active. I emailed kandco about this and they were very slow to respond. The code was still showing on Saturday. Today they have responded to say that the code expired on 26th September but was left on the website by mistake and will not apply the discount. They have now removed the advertisement.
As they were advertising this discount right through their site and no expiry date was shown and could have been the reason for many people making purchases are they allowed to do this?
(At the very least I think it is extremely poor goodwill. )

It expired so you cant use it anymore, the promotion ended.
They were slow at updating there site(just like they were at responding to your email on a weekend), That doesn't mean that gives you the right to a goodwill gesture.
You have no rights what so ever.
