Just a tip by the way.

Even if you don't have 3 pc's or devices, if you purchase a 3 pc product, you can use it until you have used up the 3 uses.
Eg, I have a laptop and a pc. the last one I purchased, I was able to use twice on my laptop, 2011 and 2012 and once on my pc, making up the 3 uses.
The version I bought was the 2009 version, once you have activated it, it allows you a free upgrade to the current year's version.
You must install and activate it for the old version first though, even though it asks you at the beginning if you want to upgrade, otherwise the activation code won't work and they will want to charge you.
The susequent times you want to use it, you just put the activation code in again, and again upgrade so don't forget to keep the Activation code or the disc handy. It will tell you when you have used all your uses of it.
    Hope that helps somebody.

In my experience, once the first 'licence' is activated, the other two 'licences' count down at the same rate.
No need whatsoever to use it with the old version at all. The activation code will work directly with the latest version.

Didn't count down for me last time at all, I used the product on my pc and laptop the first year, then again on the laptop the following year with no problems at all.

Are you trying to tell us that a one year licence lasted for two years or simply that you used it for one year over two versions?

I am telling you that my one year licence lasted for two years on my laptop. When the first year was up, there was a box came up that said to renew, it said if I had already purchased to click to put in the activation code. I put in the activation code again, which is printed on the disk and it accepted it with no problems at all.
I had used it the second year on my pc as well, which is also going to run out in the next few weeks. The first year it was still covered by a free AV.
I tried it again this year, but as it has now been used three times, it tells me that the code is in use, (or has been used - can't remember the exact wording, but won't let me use it again, which I didn't expect it to anyway).
I have only previously used free AV but it was Donny who used to be on here that told me about the Works having the 3 pc 2009 version that was very cheap at the time. He said it could be upgaded to the current version. As I had two devices - pc and laptop and it was cheaper to get the 3 pc version than two 1 pc versions I bought that. My laptop was brand new at the time and I decided I wanted to go for a paid for version on it. My laptop is now just over two years old and I have not bought any other AV since buying the 3pc version of Kaspersky so I know I have used it for two years.
It has now run out and I wanted to replace it with another 3pc version.
I am so confident that it will last me another two years on one machine and one year on the other that I am tempted to get another copy - as the price is right, so that both machines will then have cover for three years.

It's not supposed to do that, but certainly good luck to you if it does.

Toshiba and Medion spring to mind. :D

how should people buy then? Did you know that for instance you can only buy your protection for 2 or 3 years(Norton) in that way as this kind of license is not available in a retail shops?

I am so sorry to hear that you are not expercienced in this field.
