where to buy mfi kitchens

hi all

does anyone know where you can buy MFI kitchens? i have in the past seen various web sites selling mfi stock after they liquidated but can't find any concrete leads right now.
We had a quote from howdens (through our builder) but even with 70% discount off the cabinets it still falls outside of our budget, hence looking for cheaper alternatives.
Plus i have heard that MFI kitchens were 18mm as opposed to 15mm i believe at ikea?

thanks

  • well good luck in finding a rubbish kitchen from a company that folded 10 yrs ago, have you tried the cheap units in the sheds ? either that or you have to put up with what you have, save some more money, cut back on what your builder is doing to put more to the kitchen or have a wander round & see if anyone is having a kitchen replaced & buy their old one.

Look on eBay. People are selling old kichens there. Obviously use the Nearest First filter.

Ikea will be a big improvement on a Mfi kitchen,
having said that anything would be a big improvement on something from Mfi.

Wickes kitchens to order have 18mm carcasses. Much better than the 15mm takeaway variety. Google 18mm carcasses for other alternatives online.

MFI were 15mm, the backs weren't much better than cardboard and bowed almost immediately until they fell out.

There's a big difference between bedroom and kitchen units, wardrobes aren't designed for constant use. Ours haven't fared too badly either but a built in dressing table is falling to pieces. Again it's the thin bits like the drawer bases and wardrobe backs that let them down.
