How Is This Happening

Hi

Hope this is this right forum as this relates to prepaid cr cards & debit cards. Over the last weeks this has happened with my Orange Cash, Cashplus, & today my bank debit card transaction .

What happens i put the card into the terminal it shows up as card void. I take the card out & try again the transaction goes through. The assistant tells me the 1st transaction is cancelled & i now have two receipts the 1st receipt has transaction cancelled on it. However, when i check the relevant a/c it has been debited twice. The card supplier always reverses the 1st transaction & i get the money back biu i am now finding this a pain.

How can a voided/ cancelled transation go through?

With regards to todays bank debit card transaction the assistant knocked the card out of the terminal & it voided
& i paid again. Have just checked the a/c & its debited twice will contact bank in the morning.

Has this happened to anyone else.

Thanks

  • So this has been happening to all of your cards?

I can only remember having a card error/void message a couple of times but the payment only ever came out once.

Sorry I can't offer any help, but if this is happening to all of them it sounds really, really strange.
    From £8,800 to £2,200 in 2 years.

Nearly there, just the 0% credit card to go!

    Thanks for all the replies.

These incidents happened sepertaley in different shops.

Daffodil the debit card belongs to Yorkshire Bank also as this is a basic bank a/c & i have several d/ds & stos due out tomorrow i am now sweating that they wont bounce tomorrow as i do have a tight budget.

    Thanks
  • had this explained to me a while if i remember correctly when you put card in chip and pin machine money you are trying to pay gets held by bank. When you enter chip and pin thay then get code number to take money from account. If for any reason chip and pin machine looses conection with banks payment system this can cause that message but thay will not have code to take money from your account.
Money should show back in your account with in 5 days

Is this only happening to you in one shop are is it more if I am incorrect I`m sure some one will correct me.

If it is several cards (including prepaid) and several shops, then the only explanation would be a problem with the merchant processor, or possibly the phone lines in that area.
