Oven Door - what's the foil I can see?

Hi folks,
I was wondering if somebody could help? I have a rangemaster gas oven (probably about 15 years old) and today I noticed that I can see something that looks like foil between the two sheets of glass in the oven door. I have no idea what it is, and other than it looking awful am not sure what it means in regard to the oven working or not
I did put the oven on, and it seemed a bit hotter above the oven door than usual, but not sure if this is just my imagination ...
If anyone would be able to kindly help me understand what it is, and how I may fix it (or how much I would have to pay somebody to fix it for me if it's complicated) I would be very grateful,
Many thanks

Insulation in the door which has fallen apart or moved out of position.
Fixed by removing the door from the oven, dismantling it and replacing the insulation.0 -
thanks for your answer tlh858 - does this mean that I need to buy new insulation? is it easy for someone with little diy know-how to replace?
sorry, this practical fix-it lark isn't my strong point!0
