A few hours ago I sold a pressure cooker on ebay. I just got the following message:

Dear XXXXXXX

Hello, am sorry for wasting your time but I don't need this item anymore. The misses already bought one when she went out to spend my money. Sorry again about wasting your time.

What is the best response to this? Thanks.

    What can you say ?
"Ok thanks for letting me know you've changed your mind"
If it was only a few hours ago it's not as is you've wrapped it up and taken it to the Post Office, it's just one of those things. In another few hours someone else may come along and say they'll have it.

Cancel the transaction mutually and you'll get your fees back.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

Send them a polite message as above, then tell them you'll send a mutual cancellation to cancel the sale. Once that's done you could then offer it to the next highest bidder?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • It only had the one bid on it. I will cancel the transaction mutally. Thanks for your help everyone.

When this has happened to me, I ask the buyer to put in a return request, even though it hasn't been posted. This way, the buyer can't refuse a cancellation, which would leave you with fees to pay.

As above. I would ask them to cancel.
