My shower is cold!

I have a bar shower system, that runs of the boiler (not electric), which is separate to the bath taps. It has the temperature dial one side and on/off dial the other side. All was fine with the shower, up until we tried to fit a device sent through from our local water company which you fit in the shower to reduce water costs. We unscrewed the hose and fitted this filter and then put the hose back on. Since we have done this the shower has been running cold, Luke warm at best and the temperature doesn't change even when we turn the temperature dial up and down. We tried removing the water saver filter, and it is still the same.

All the other taps in the house are hot, and the pipe leading into the shower bar is hot when the shower is on, its just not getting through to the shower head.

Does anyone know if this is a simple thing to fix please? I feel like it is, so I didn't want to spend lots of money getting a plumber in if its something I could do myself.

Thanks in advance.

The only suggestion I have is that something has gotten into the shower valve, sealant or part of a rubber washer, when you fitted this.
I'm assuming this was fitted adjacent to the shower valve.

There is another possibility that is the bain of any tradesman, it is totally unrelated to what you have done and simply a shower valve/ceramic insert failure.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

  • Thanks, yes it is annoying. I am now led to believe it is the thermostatic cartridge inside the shower, problem is I need to know that make the unit is to sort that. We are going to take it off to try and see if it's just a stuck valve, if not I think it might be cheaper just to buy a new shower.

    Thanks for your help! :)

you may have caused a prob within the valve due to increased pressure build up as you have resticted the flow.

Showers the same as taps already have water saving features they are called handles the more you turn them on the more water comes out it's quite a good system, rather than fit these so called water saving devices.
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

I think this water saving device is something you fit to a showere to save money on that, not the taps, it sounds like the same thing I got from my power company, I binned it, no use to me, my shower is electric.

did you read my post ?? I know exactly what it is & they supply them for taps too.
I said showers the same as taps have handles if you want to save water just don't turn them on so much, it's really not rocket science

    To some it clearly is.;)

Op, it's now a throw away society.
You are unlikely to find spares, buy another and elevate some Asian in the process.

Please don't read that as discriminatory, it sounds like it is but to be honest ,.... I'ts just the simple truth.

    Bought Oak flooring today;

Prime European Oak, cut in France, shipping to China for processing, and sent back to the UK for resale.:A:A:A:A
