Ebay seller messing around

Last night I purchased four items from the same seller. He had 10-12 items for sale (video games) all on one listing, with the same BIN price for each game.

Four had already been purchased, so I purchased four and then emailed the seller with my choice of games.

This morning I have four cancellation requests from the seller and an email saying only one of the four games I asked for is available.

Fair enough. I paid for the one game, emailed the seller and he responds telling me that the game he said was available had in fact been promised to someone else before he emailed me!

Some sellers really need to get a grip.

  • The seller needs to realise you should not list this way for this very reason.

Naughty seller doing a choice auction when it is not possible in that category.

You bought the items you wanted and now have the ability to leave feedback to warn other buyers not to waste their time buying from this seller.

Should I cancel as per his request?

It is completely up to you, if you do he gets his fees back. If you refuse then there is no harm to your account but he loses his fees. If you ignore the request it defaults to allow him to recover fees.

  • Thanks soolin. I am a little miffed with the whole thing to be honest, so I think I will deny his request to cancel.

I'm not normally petty when it comes to these kind of things, but its just not the way to ebay in my opinion.

It isn't petty, seller was in breach of rules and unfortunately miscalculated how exactly this was going to work. You have been inconvenienced, your refund will not be instant so you will have lost the use of it for a few days.
