Cost to replace a door frame

HI All,
I am just about to embark on redecorating my kitchen and one of the worse items is the door frame - I have no idea why but for some reason there is massive gouges (sp?) all down the wood from previous owner which has been glossed over.
They cannot be sanded away as there would be no wood left so I am wondering how much it would cost (just a rough estimate) to get somebody to come in and replace the entire door frame with a new one?
If anyone has an idea that would be great!
Thanks

Can you not use a wood filler then paint over that?Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -
Well I was thinking first that I would sand down the frame as much as possible, use filler and then paint after but it is such a mess that I just wondered how much it would be to just get it replaced as I reckon it would take a whole day (or more) just for the frame and as I work full time and have a 1 year old I don't get alot of spare time!0

As above, don't try to sand out simply fill.
Ok if you go the replacement frame route the material cost is £30 plus finishing.
BUT,
The final price for a guy to come along and remove, fit, and finish, and plaster repairs is likely £200 to £250, and that's conservative.
Filler and paint is a tenner, :money::money:, remember.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
