Procedure for Refunding a Car insurance payment-1 year, but only using 8 months
Options
Got 1 years car insurance, it is now 8 months, and don't need the rest of the 4 months / as the car wont be used.
so this money can be rebated/refunded can't it? (for the 4 months left)
What is the procedure for cancelling the car insurance, at 8 months into it? (so a refund is given for the remaining 4 months).
are there forms to fill in?

Ring up your insurance company. I dont think they will necessarily give you back the remainder pro rata. You'll get something back, but you bought 1 years insurance, so you've no immediate right to the remainder back, just because you dont need it.
Sorry.0 -
Doubt you will get much back (if anything) after admin charges.
have a look at your policy wording and call the company
EDIT
would be surprised if the OP returns with thanks or comments though0 -
Might be worth not cancelling, depending on the accrued NCB situation.0
-
Cheaper in the long run to just keep the insurance youll have an extra years no claims bonus you have already paid the money so its not a monthly cost so its a no brainer0
-
no way does one year ncb give you 1/3 the cost of first years insurance. unless you're 18 or something.
you'll get hit with admin charges for the cancellation. the low end the insurer the more you pay,0 -
They might not of had any NCD 1 year = 30%
Keep it going and wait for the renewal, you wont get much back, unless your premium was £1000+"Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0
