Hi folks, looking for some answers- if anyone can provide them
Currently I work 24 hours as a support worker, i have a son who is 8 and we live with my partner who is a full time mature student (in his final year) we claim working tax credit and child tax credit and have a discount on our coucil tax for second adult rebate.
We live in a 2 bed (1 double 1 single) council flat, i am also 25 weeks pregnant. We have applied to the council for a larger property(either 2 bed with double rooms) or a 3 bed property but I am very aware of how short on housing all councils are and was thinking we could possibilly move into a private rent with the help of LHA. What i dont know is if i am eligable or how much we would recieve. I pay all the bills at the moment and my partners student loan goes on study materials, petrol and odd weekly shop, so basically i am supporting us all and due to go on maternity at the end of the year(eeeek)
Does anyone have an idea what i might be eligable for? or how i can find out? many thanks for looking

I'd be very wary of giving up a secure social tenancy for the insecurity of renting in the private sector where you could end up moving every 6 months or so. In addition, many private landlords won't let to those claiming benefits which will also narrow your options.0

Dunroamin, as always, has given the best advice. Security of having a longterm (cheap?ish) roof over your head is far more important than renting a bigger place. Depending on the sex of your child anyway, they may not may much in LHA. I'd look into ways you can stay put, sofa-beds maybe, space saving, that sort of thing. You will kick yourself in the future if you give up a council place now. You only need to write into a search engine "how do i get a council house fast" and you will see what we mean. good luck xxxThe feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!
The pride my children told me they had in me was even better!!!!! # setting positive example to children is OUTSTANDING!!!! !:grouphug::grouphug::smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea0 -
