caller display not working on phone,help needed

hi,i have a panasonic dect phone with answer machine.a month ago the phone fell,since that day i can't get the caller display tp work. i rang panasonic,they suggested taking all connections out for an hour,then switching on.i have tried that few times, the rest of the phone works,just no caller display,, finding out who rang whilst i was out, and no light flashes on unit when call comes in. i really love the phone, and its not "broke",but not fully complete either.
any suggestions on how to restore it.it had been working perfectly before its fall.

I love my panasonic cordless phone.
Is it a problem with your line provider? Just a thought. As they provide the ID bit for the caller ID0 -
Could you not test your line with another caller id phone to see if its ok?0

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
