  • I think I have got it but one final check if you don't mind?.....

So I would have bought the tomatoes out of the second purse £10, paid £1.00 for 4 tins, leaving me with £9.00 in my second purse. When I use a tin of tomatoes, I pay back £0.38p (original price before offer) back into the second purse meaning that if I used all 4 I would have £10.52 in the second purse?

Do I only buy back 'stock' items, so baked beans, tinned spaghetti, chick peas, green beans etc?

Apologies, my brain is haddled lately due to my ME

You've got it right! But as AlwaysHappy has said you can include whatever you want and finance it whatever way you want.

This is what I am doing.

I've just (with hubby's help) set up a spreadsheet and have included the stuff bought yesterday at half price in the normal shop so 2 jars of sauce, soup and the breakfast bars and chicken and lemonade bought at a multi buy price.

I've also cheated a little as I'm also going to include the dogs stuff that I bought weeks ago but was again was bogof.

If I 'pay back' at the prices I've set on those items alone I will have £18 in my savings jar

I think its easier to understand (if I understand it !) is that you think of it as physically seeing the benefits of buying something half price, bogof or at a multi buy price.....I know you do when you're paying at the till but then that saving gets forgotten iyswim

So in your example, you may not usually buy 4 tins of tomatoes in one shop, you may only buy 2 but as it made financial sense to buy 4 (after all they'll get used eventually) you've saved 52p

Now you could walk away and think I've saved 52p but that would be that. But if you put 52p in a savings jar you have that 52p to do whatever you want with (ok you'd need abit more but you get my drift!)

If you want me to send you a copy of my spreadsheet just pm me

Actually Always its scary how quickly the money in the savings jar will grow.

I've already 'saved' over £4 by using the 2 jars of curry and the chicken in a batch cook that I did today.

I'm also going to put any money that I save by using vouchers into the saving jar as well

I've decided that every £20 I save I'm going to put towards my debt so it will be like having two bites of the cherry lol!

Sorry I've not been on for a while. Been run off my feet , in a nice way, got two little granddaughters now ;-)

It takes a while to get your head round this system, but once you get into the way of it you will always have a good stock and money in one of your purses.

I may not always have time to post, but I do read all your posts. Keep it up and happy bargain hunting ;-D

Good to hear from you Mothership, there wouldn't have been this system if it hadn't been for you.
