Can I rent a flat with agency with bad credit history with partner as Guarantor

I lam looking to rent a flat through an agency with my partner however I have some bad credit history not through renting but other stuff. (credit cards etc) My partner has a clean history but I want the flat in my name only if possible as I am going to be paying the rent. As my job looks like it could be a bit flaky compared to my partners and would need to be able to claim housing benefit if I come across hard times for a while. Don't really know the best approach to do the whole thing. Many Thanks

If you're living with a partner who is working you are very unlikely to be able to claim any LHA/Housing Benefit if you become unemployed, so that plan may not work. LHA/HB will be calculated on joint-income, so your partner may need to be on a very low wage to qualify for any help.
A "clean history" is not the whole picture: landlords and their agents will also be looking at affordability. How about your partner rents the property in their name only with you named as a "permitted occupant". That way, you might not have to be credit-checked.0
