Help with ID fraud

Hi everyone, thanks for all the info, it has been a help. Just to clarify, no money has been taken from my account as of yesterday. I only have one card (a debit card) so my only card has not been used to get the loan or it would have been shown on my account record. (I checked with my bank yesterday). I have been to the police today and have given the crime number to Wonga. I am waiting for a call from their fraud team. So the question is- Has the person used my details to obtain some sort of credit card and then used this to get the loan or have they used my address details and someone else's card? Can someone advise me, if I register with Experian or Equifax, will they show details of any credit/debit card applications as well as the Wonga application? If so I will get onto them sharpish. Thanks.0

Glad no money has been taken for this! I you get the £2 statutory credit reports from Experian and Equifax then this should show up recent credit applications that you can check. I don't think it will show up debit card applications but may show up any new opened current accounts.

Thanks lea_t88. I have just completed the Equifax statutory credit report and it shows nothing new on there. No new loans and no new accounts opened in my name. I am feeling slightly better. The only issue now is stopping this person using my details to apply for anymore loans or anything else. Does anyone know the best way of doing this? Would it be CIFAS?0

“Official Company Representative
I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

I have had a similar experience and might be able to help. Please go to aloadofwonga dot com and review. I'm trying to collect Wonga fraud data also to prove the epidemic is worse than they say.0 -

The most effective means of stopping someone opening accounts or applying for credit in you name is described in the link bellow:
FREE ID PROTECTION (Click Here).
No one using this method of FREE ID protection has fallen victim to ID Theft (Application Fraud)
Weigh up the Pros & Cons, then make an informed decision, if it suits you or not.
It certainly doesn't suit ID Theives.
Hope this helps0
