why cant i find kaspersky internet security 2013 in any shop?

as my 2012 sub runs out in a few weeks i usually get the new version around this time of year. last week i couldnt find it in any shop and online it seems to be over priced. has there been a problem of some sort? does anyone know if stores are expected to start stocking it soon? if it doesnt appear anywhere in time is it possible to just buy another version of 2012, download 2013 online and then use the 2012 code?

If you buy an use a 2012 code you can upgrade to the 2013 version for free when it's released, you have always been able to do this with kaspersky.

Buy a copy of 2012 on eBay for a few pounds and use the Licence. Download the new version for free when it is released.

If you are a Barclays customer, you can get it free anyway.

'2013' versions of many software products (including Kaspersky) are being held back waiting for final version for Windows 8, because of likely compatibility issues.

thanks everyone. i notice how some seem to think it is not available. it is just the main shops like staples, currys etc i havent been able to find it in. it is already available online. i noticed space for it in staples but not one single copy was there.

i keep forgetting so can someone tell me here the best procedure to do it? what i mean is without putting the system at risk. do i download 2013 to the computer and then remove 2012 before installing 2013? i think its as simple as that but i am not sure. i just want to avoid being connected to the net at some point without any security installed.

Note: When installating version 2013 'on top' of an older version, your activation details and anti-spam databases will automatically be kept and transferred to your new version

It is recommended on the Kaspersky forums that you uninstall any versions before installing new versions to avoid any problems.

2013 has only just been released and there have been some reported glitches and problems, I would stick with 2012 for a month or two until they sort it out with updates.

thanks. is it a good idea to install it over the previous version? i have always thought it was best to totally wipe the old version off the system first.

2012 runs out at the end of october. so cant wait beyond that date.

Just renew your 2012 subscription, you can upgrade to 2013 for free at any time, instructions on the link above.

When you want to upgrade download and save 2013, uninstall 2012 saving your activation data, reboot then install 2013.
