PrimeLocation website broken since Zoopla takeover

Options
Hi,
Been registered on PrimeLocation for years and got regular emails of my saved property searches.

Well today I click on one of the properties that look interesting in the latest email and it goes to the PrimeLocation login page. Never used to -- it would instantly show you the property in the email but on their webpages.

So I dutifully login and then expect to see the property. . . but no just goes to main page. So I look at my profile and it has my name etc but NOTHING under SAVED SEARCHES and NOTHING under SAVED PROPERTIES.

Seems that they have just been taken over by Zoopla - well I can't be bothered to try and enter the property details into the website again and search for what was in the email. Nor to re-enter my saved searches or find and save properties I am interested in that are coming up for auction.

Rather fed up with their new approach. I'am off to Rightmove and will use them exclusively in future - their search by drawing an area on a map is so much better anyway.

What a way to take over another company and p*** off the existing customer base...

  • The new update of primelocation website is really good. And the site is a lot faster than it was. It is certainly not broken and my searches and alerts are there. They were missing for a few minutes last night but that was probably just part of the update.

Zoopla ruin everything they are involved in. Upmystreet.com and houseprices.co.uk were both really useful resources, Zoopla bought them for no apparent reason and shuttered them, putting inferior versions on their own website.
They seem to be on a buying spree, they will probably end up going bust with all the money they have been splashing around.

In precise terms, why is Zoopla inferior to the others you mention?

Upmystreet had really useful neighbourhood profiles with ACORN scores, local schools/amenities etc. Helpful when deciding whether an area is rough or posh. Visiting upmystreet.com now just redirects to the Zoopla homepage, where there is no similar information available.

Houseprices.co.uk was a clean uncluttered way to view LR sold house price data - just type in a postcode and you got a list of all the sold house prices with dates. Zoopla's version is a visual mess and defaults to showing you their hilariously inaccurate estimate of what the property is currently worth, rather than the actual sold price data, requiring extra clicks to get the same information.

From the Zoopla homepage, type in the search box a postcode, combination term of "street name, town", a town, village, city or county, click 'Sold Prices' above the search box, then Search. Two clicks, and you're at Sold Prices ordered by Most Recent sales for your search term. Where do all the extra clicks come from? How are you getting there?
  • I was really glad I found this thread, as I thought it was something I had done inadvertently! I'm not getting any of my email alerts from Prime Location anymore. Does this mean I have to re-do them again with Zoopla now?

    Hope not!

There must be a Help or Contact Us link at the Primelocation homepage - wouldn't it be a good idea to raise this there?
  • Hi googler. Thank you for your reply.
I have indeed contacted them and am hopeful for a reply.
I just added to this thread, as I was grateful (although not at all glad) that someone else was experiencing problems too. Maybe just a personal opinion but sometimes its good to know that you are not alone with a problem.
