    hi,
ive had alot of problems with lloyds so much so i moved away from them now.
i have a loan with them for £350 a month, my account is with collections. one month they took £1000 out my account and basically said that when you are with collections any money you pay into that account they can take and pay it into your loan account and there nothing you can do to stop them.
now i bank with barclays. hope this helps

    Hi there,

Firstly, here are some numbers that might help you:
    Credit Card Collections - 0870 150 4655
    Loan/Overdraft Collections - 0870 242 4761
    Financial Management Unit (dept that Payplan/CCCS talk to) - 0870 909 0982

Part of the problem, from my experience, is the department who deal with the DMP companies (Financial Management Unit) is different from the people who talk to you (Collections). So you have Payplan sending FMU your Financial Statements, they take ages to update the info onto your account, Collections don't know what you're talking about when you call - and that's before taking into account any miscommunication between the two departments, which seems to happen a lot. Another problem is that you can't talk directly to FMU - well, you can, but it's hard to persuade them - they only talk to third parties. Furthermore, Collections will never agree to contact FMU whilst you are on the phone - they say they can't but clearly this is a lie. They can but they are just too lazy and would rather wait weeks for FMU to update info on their systems. BUT - and herein lies the problem - the people who make the decision about whether the plan is accepted IS Collections! It's so confusing to speak to the right person, and then when you do speak to someone, they are from a call centre in India and cannot deal with anything more complicated than a basic yes/no question (I am not racist, I'm Asian myself, but I think it is ridiculous that these people are trained so badly and cannot understand accents - and I have a London accent so I feel really sorry for broad Northerners!!)

My experience of Lloyds has been very up and down. I made token payments back in March of £30 for each Lloyds debt (CC, overdraft, loan). I hadn't started my DMP with Payplan yet, it started on 1st April, but the payments proposed on the DMP were considerably more. Next thing I knew, I see my credit card rising by £5 a day - within a month it had gone up by £140!!! Apparently they couldn't do anything until Payplan sent them a Financial Statement, but Payplan couldn't do that until I'd made my first payment- so I just had to accept it. Then last week, I call to see if Payplan's Financial Statement had arrived - yes, it had, but my offer of £30 a month for all 3 debts totalling nearly £20K had been declined. Explained there had been a mix up, my token payments obviously had been mixed up with Payplan's proposal, was assured they would make a note of this and contact Payplan. Of course this never happened and instead received a letter today restating above!! Finally lost my temper, spoke to Indian call centre bloke in Collections, made sure he wrote everything I said, including the real payment amounts, and got him to confirm an acceptance there and then (although judging from what you have told me I will wait to get written confirmation). Also told that interest and charges stopped - but again I will beleive when I see it!

    So my advice is:
    1. Don't make token payments to Lloyds whilst your DMP is being set up, it confuses them, especially if the amounts are different
    2. Do keep calling (it pays to pester) and take names down of who you spoke to...
    3. If all else fails DO report it to Financial Ombudsman - drastic action but it always seems to have a favourable outcome for the customer
    4. NEVER leave your current account with Lloyds if you are on a DMP and owe debts to them - they are THE worse for pinching money out of your account

In short they've been a pain in the rear.

When I started my DMP nearly two years ago they froze interest etc, now they charge the full whack every month and refuse to budge one inch on this despite me and CCCS writing to them and calling. According to CCCS Lloyds are clawing back every penny they can from bad debt right now and have become notorious for being especially difficult with people in trouble.

As another poster pointed out they have many departments that do not talk to each other so I get letters regarding the same thing over and over it's a joke.

Oh and they try and foist you off with one of their consolidation loans at the bargain interest rate of 10% APR - ignore these letters as it removes any flexibility in your DMP.

In contrast they could not be more helpful to OH, which is very irking to so the least.

Oh and don't get me started on their foreign call centre! ;)

Sorry it's probably not what you want to hear. I'm just glad I'll be paying them off for good in August. I never want to deal with them again in any way shape or form.

Jolinar, what was their reasoning for starting the charges again? And is your OH in debt too?

They gave the reason that they want more money  OH owes them a lot more and pays them a lot less in his DMP. Maybe they feel I'm made of money? ;)

I owe Lloyds about £24500 in total between loans, current a\c and credit cards and about to enter into a DMP. I have opened another current account elsewhere but am worried because my mother has a current account with Lloyds which is joint with me. This is mainly because she is elderly and this way I can keep an eye on her account for her and also I occasionally put a little money of my own in there. Can anyone tell me if they think Lloyds will try to plunder this account. Should I remove my name from it to make sure my mother's money is safe?

We entered a scottish trust deed (IVA) and had a joint account with my husband which was in debt and another which was in credit which was a single account in my name only. They closed the account that was O/D (which formed part of the trust deed) but have left my own account open, I have a chq card (no overdraft) and it has been business as usual for me. Hopefully they wont touch your joint account with your mum. Have to tried phoning the collections centre in Brighton? Lady in there was quite helpful.

    Good luck X
