In process of re-claiming mis-sold PPI charges. Received denial letter from HSBC

Hi,
I took out a joint mortgage protection plan with critical illness benefit in 2002 with HSBC.
I now have looked through the paper work and I believe I could re-claim this back through mis-sold PPI.
I have already sent the PPI consumer questionnaire to HSBC and they have replied with the following letter:

Paragraph 4 of page 1 starting "As stated in our previous letters" confuses me.
A) There are no previous letters
Does that mean I don't have a valid PPI re-claim?
Any advice welcome.
Regards, Stephen

You dont appear to have complained about PPI. You have life assurance and CI cover. It also looks like you used a template letter which contained a number of irrelevant reasons (e.g. single premium).
So you have given false reasons in a complaint about a product you do not hold. Pretty easy rejection on their part.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Or more like complaining about cod when you had steak and chips. It is that much different. All in all a very strange complaint to make. Very random.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). FYI
PPI is cover in case you cannot work due to an accident, sickness or redundancy and pays a monthly benefit. There are issues with this type of cover, you dont have it.
Life and critical illness cover provides cover in case you die or get a serious illness and it pays a lump sum. This is what you had.0 -

So this is the OP's second complaint about the same policy!ste.richards wrote: »There are no previous letters0 -

I'm afraid I agree with Mr Davers, not the OP.
What he has written is very polite. What he though may be quite different - something along the lines of "what a bozo"!
If you are going to make allegations, it makes sense to at least establish what you are complaining about rather than go off half cocked.0 -

We are all joking at the complaint but there is a serious side this. It is clearly an opportunistic complaint, even fraudulent. We shouldn't really laugh at such things.
The bank is virtually obliged to reject and remain polite but if I was in their shoes I would consider withdrawing all services to the OP in view of the fraudulent attempt to obtain money out of them on false pretences.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
