does the car still drive ok? as I had this issue with one of my cars and it turned out that the brakes were actually sticking and that I was driving with them on and the brakelights were also on, it was something to do with the brake calapers and they needed changing0

Quite a common thing on the 206 for the brake light switch to fail0

I had a 206 with the same problem. It is something to do with a switch / wire under the glove box passenger side. Your passenger can accidently knock it with their feet which causes the brake lights to stick on. When I took mine to Peugeot, all the guy did was reach under the glove box and it was fixed.Proud to be dealing with my debts :money:0
