So basically if you are happy to accept an inflated price, then they will give you 5% off if you have a voucher. Yes?
If you are "savvy enough" then they will match the internet price but not take the voucher. Yes?
If however you are not "savvy enough" but don't have a voucher, then you are getting stiffed. Yes?0 -

Yep thats about right, I tried instore today to get a better price and I kind of proved they can reduce the holiday price because I was told when they match the internet price they still use their own insurance which works out more expensive than online so then have to reduce the price of the holiday by the difference, only a few pounds but any amount would still be useful.2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494

Its not an inflated price its the real price, a price you pay on the high street for someone to book it for you, find the holiday if you don't know what you want and do all the work for you. As you know if you have a shop on the high street you have overheads to pay.
The internet is DIY you search, choose and book yourself so you usually get a cheaper price, although this isn't the case in all instances, this years holidays up untill the end of october are the same price in the shops as on the TC website and have been for most of the summer this has worked really well so would expect this to carry on with other seasons. Winter and next summer hols carry approx a 6% disc on the shop price, so if you take your printout to the shop generally they will match it to get the business.
If you have a voucher they will give you the discount.
If you don't do any of these then yes you will pay full price, i'm afraid thats life.
Judy the insurance issue is a strange one. If you purchase the insurance in the shop then they make commission on it, so if you buy this then they can afford to reduce the price to match the net, if you don't then they can't afford to reduce the price of the holiday. It would make more sense for the insurance to be the same price on the net as in the shop.
Not everyone who books on the net does it for a cheaper price, some people do it cause they want to DIY and the convenience of being at home and don't want to bother with the high street.0 -
