Can I still claim if I sign?

Hi all,
Wondering if anyone could shed any light on this.
12 weeks ago I submitted 2 detailed claims for PPI & my bank charges.
I appealed under the hardship rules, outlined exactly how I met them & included a charges schedule.
After 4 weeks I received a letter saying their "final word" is that they wouldn't refund the charges.
Today I receive a letter to say my PPI complaint was upheld and they're offering me the premiums & interest back - no bank charges included.
They now want me to sign a form to say by accepting the PPI repayment it ends my complaint on my accounts.
If I accept my PPI refund & sign the form does that mean I can't take my bank charge claim further with the ombusdman?
Is there a specifically worded letter I can send that says I accept the PPI but reserve the right to contest the bank charges with the ombudsman?
Thanks!

Hi there
Well done on your success.
Usually charges are dealt with separately to that of PPI.
You could wait for other opinions on this if you want to.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

I see your point, but usually its very flawed and hard to prove. You need to prove the PPI had an impact on your financial circumstances.
In most cases ive seen, the charges occur long before or long after the PPI was taken out or not relevant.
Also you need to consider how much the PPI increased your loan payments, often it may only be something like £20 a month. So the logic is, how on earth did a £20 payment make you go hundreds and hundreds of pounds overdrawn. ie it didnt. FOS will want to see your bank statements, if this shows £70 a month to sky, £50 to vodafone, £100 on gambling websites then the PPI had minimal impact.
Im not saying you spunk all your money, but from experience a lot of complaints are like the above. Also your user name suggests the debts occurred from other circumstances.0 -
Thanks for the comments folks!
Long story short - my name is related to this.
I took out a graduate loan with PPI which was then good for nothing when I was made redundant.
I had to continue to pay my graduate loan (hence Uni debts) while unemployed. The charges appeared exactly in the period of my unemployment. I had maintained a good account up until that time.
The PPI premiums I will have refunded will be £700+ If that £700 had been in the account, there wouldn't have been an overdraft at all!
So really to me the useless PPI resulted in these charges. I see them as being one and the same issue - however they're treating them seperately.
Just wondering if I sign my PPI letter, can I continue with the charges issue?
I'm leaning towards thinking I can after reading through the reclaim guide again.0
