Need to temporarily disable Norton 360 - How?

We have a small home network, and I am using a Windows 7 Pc. However I have a fully functioning XP Pro PC which I have recently moved onto its own desk along with my Epson 3170 scanner. When I try to use the scanner I get an error message Escndv.exe not responding. Also the CPU shoots up to 100% with nothing else running.

So I thought I would reinstall the Epson driver (I have the CD) but this recommends dis-enabling the security software while installing it.

For the home network we are running the latest version of Norton 360 on all the PCs including the XP. (This reports everything Ok on the XP.) However I cannot find how to temporarily disable Norton while I reinstall the Epson drivers.

I have found several versions of how to do this on the web but none of the examples given matches the structure of the version of Norton 360 that I am using and I cannot find anywhere in my version how to disable it temporarily.

Can anyone help?
