Printer only printing start of page?

I use an Epson Stylus SX115 printer. It ran out of ink and I bought a multi pack of compatible cartridges from Tesco. The ink status box still shows the ink levels as zero but I managed to print one page of a 5-page document, however only the first few lines printed.

I am also trying to print a boarding pass for a flight and again it is printing on the first 25% of the page only.

Can anyone offer any help please?

I've tried switching printer on and off again but makes no difference.

Thanks

The first thing I would do is reboot the computer.
  • OK I'll give that a try thanks.

Reboot. If the status still shows empty then take it back to Tesco.

If you are confident that the cartridges actually contain ink and that the inbuilt chip is wrong then you could try to reset it with the SSC Service utility. http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

It doesn't work with all printers.
  • I have rebooted both laptop and printer. The cartridges definitely have ink in them as I shook them slightly when I opened the packages.

My printer is not listed as one that is supported by the SSC Servce utility, so I don't want to attempt anything there.

    Thanks for your replies anyway.

Scroll down for the link to get WIC Reset

    http://www.epsonreset.com/

Install that and run it, click status and ink levels

    Does it show them correctly?

You could also remove all the inks, switch the printer off, remove the power lead for a couple of minutes.

Replace the lead, switch the printer on, insert the cartridges when prompted. Check the ink levels, either from devices and printers or with WIC

If no change, and you still have the empty cartridge, insert that and see if the monitor shows it as empty with the other with ink in

You could try wiping the chips with a soft cloth
