Acrylic bath, 5 or 6mm?

Hi all, just a quick one. I am replacing my dads bathtub for an acrylic one. I am looking at one which is £300 and has a 6 jet whirlpool (good for his age I hope). This is 5mm, whiist another site is selling a 8mm acrylic one without whirlpool for £130.

Which would you guys recommend as I don't want my dad to break it (As in fall through).

Thanks.
Keep smiling, G.

Personnally I hate plastic/acrylic baths & you can getr a pressed steel one for the same money, which is much better.
There are a number ofr threads on here asking for advice on repairs to plastic/acrylic baths.............

Don't expect you will get a pressed steel in whirlpool.

To be honest, I think a walk in shower is better & safer for "old" people.

My mother has had the odd episode where she gets stuck in the bath (& shes slim), she just can't get in & out easily.

Do think about a walk in shower though.

I got my pressed steel bath for £130 in a very large bathroom shop in Crystal Palace in South London, I found them on ebay.

bought a steel bath from bathstore.com They price matched the place in london (and ebay) and were cheaper on delivery. (useful if not in the london area - would have been cheaper still to pick one up tho!!) Love it now its all in and finished. Very slippy though compared to my old scratched cast iron one!!
