I never win anything *Sniff sniff*

I have been comping religiously for 3 weeks now and not a win!!
I only really enter competitions on this forum, should I be searching elsewhere as well?

  • I've only won 3 things in 8 years of comping, lol. I try and do at least 10 a day but 3 weeks is very short to be worrying about not having a win yet. Yes there are other forums such as Loquax that list comps, but I've always found that those same comps are listed quicker and laid out better on here IMO. There's loads of advice in the 'Compers Chat Corner' of this forum as to various comping techniques, maybe have a bit of a search as you might improve your chances :)
MSE wins: 2009 Altec Lansing iPhone speaker dock, 2012 Ribena 'Hunter' wellies , Local (non MSE) Tesco comp, Kindle Touch!

Holiday Haggler I've been Money Tipped!
Personally I see winning as the bonus and taking part is the fun part. Sound a bit like my primary teacher at sports. That way I don't get too disappointed if I don't win (which is most of the time). Friends think I am very lucky but I don't think they realise how many I enter. Think of like the national lottery. Be in it to win it. If you don't enter you never win.
    Wins in 2015

  • Hi Gemma

I started about the same time as you - in just that short time I've found that if you want a quick win, Twitter's your friend. Most of the retweet competitions finish either same day or same week, and the nature of twitter means that winners are notified quickly of their success! I've had two wins through twitter (big bottle of gin and a box of dog treats) from Twitter. I have a separate twitter account for my competition entries so that I don't annoy my normal (hmmm, "normal" might not be quite the word...) followers with all the retweeting.

As lottiegirl said, most of the competitions you entered won't have finished yet - have patience ;-)
    Would LOVE to win:
A hamper - any sort! A goody bag - any sort! A UK mini-break. A year's supply of something foodie. Anything Sci-Fi related
2013 wins - Cutting Room book, Rock n Rose necklace, £50 M&S voucher, Greggs coffee, £70 voucher for a Onesie

Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you
  • It took me a couple of months to start winning things. I started in January this year, and didn't win anything until March. Since then it is has been more of a constant stream as some of the competitions with later expiry dates start to come in.

Stick at it .. you'll get there!
Thanks to all those lovely people who contribute to this website.

  • Ive found that wins are like buses. You will wait around for ages for a win and then will get a few at once. I agree with the above tactic of not actually aiming for a win, but just aim to have a bit of fun entering competitions. Have a little game with yourself. See how many you can enter in a day, see how quick you can enter them.

I haven't been entering as many as I could recently, but I spend too much time chatting about comps and looking at other things on the net that catches my eye. The more you enter, the more likely you are to win something.

    Good luck
