Rail Season Ticket Transfers
Options
My partner and I both commute on season tickets costing over £3000 each. The tickets are sold allocated to your name and i.d. and if you return them with a certain amount of time left you get a partial refund.
The problem is, my partner's ticket has expired and I don't need mine for the next four months. Technically, I have over £1000 credit on a ticket I'm not using, BUT the train company's rip-off refund system I'll only get £200 if I cash it in. They also say I'm not allowed to transfer it into my partner's name.
I know you're bound by the company's 'terms of carriage', but does anyone know if this is legal? I can legally sell a ticket for a gig without penalisation - why shouldn't I be allowed to transfer a legally purchased season ticket?
Any advice gratefully received!

Sorry, don't think there is anything you can do. It will be in the company t&c. Can you look them up on the internet?
Can they transfer it into his name for a fee maybe?. I would speak to them again but try and speak to a senior Manager.0 -
Unfortunately the rail company is correct: rail season tickets are not transferrable. The comparison with a concert ticket doesn't work, because unlike concert tickets, rail tickets are governed by an additional contract: the National Conditions of Carriage.
For what its worth, I agree that this is a bit of a rip-off.0 -
yes a refund is based on 10 month 15 days on a 12 month season so the refund is pro rata bassed on that as for changing the holder after 18 years on the railway i`m sure its not possible2015 wins £4.00 not mse:(
2014 £44.00:mad:2013 £83.00 2012 £601.50
