British Gas Insurance

I got a call from British Gas today trying to get me to agree to insurance for any repairs in my home. I asked them to send details so that I could examine the documents. They REFUSED !!!
They want me to agree to a monthly payment BEFORE they will show me the details. What a way for a company to behave. I'd expect this from a con, but from a (supposedly) reputable company this is outrageous. I had to hang up in the end as the caller would not give up.

If the latter then all the details are on their website.
PS I have never heard of BG getting involved in the general insurance market.0 -
As a BG customer I also get these home care calls usually every couple of months. When I tell them that the house has just been re-wired, re-plumbed and a new boiler last year they usually go away but nothing seems to stop them trying again.0

If this is British Gas calling you (and that does appear a big IF ) then you can ask them to refrain from calling you for the purposes of unsolicited marketing.
It does work, trust me.
(may take about 4 weeks before the calls stop - but it seems like nickcc has a good ruse to stop them that long )0 -
Further to this, if you're a BG customer managing online, send them a message asking not to sell energy and insurance by phone, email, post etc.
If and when they do it again, put in a complaint and get £50 comp.If this is British Gas calling you (and that does appear a big IF ) then you can ask them to refrain from calling you for the purposes of unsolicited marketing.

Not a ruse as it's the truth. The other option for cold callers is just to leave them hanging on, they soon get fed up as they realise that they can't make any money out of you and try the next sucker.0 -
It may be the truth when you use it, but it could be a ruse if someone else were to use the idea. Whats important is not whether it is a ruse or not, but that it appears to stop the calls
Anything to stop these vultures that just want to earn a very good living out of you, they couldn't care less about your personal circumstances, bit like our banking friends. I do feel sorry for the telesales people that only just scrape by but why do they have to rip you off.0
