Mint Double Card Charges

The other month I managed to let my Mint card go overdrawn by £3 I picked up two £12 charges but managed to make a big payment of £40 to clear it and cover the cost of the interest next month.

However today I received two letters from Mint one advising me of two more charges and one is my statement. The first charge was for £12 for being over my limit in the month and the second was for £12 for going over the limit. It appears they are both the same charge

I will break down the numbers to make it easier:

24 July to August 23
Closing balance 317.28 Estimated Interest next month is £6.16
Payment due on before 14th September.

I made a payment on the 11th September of £40 which in theory would have brought my balance down to 277.28

How ever it would appear Mint looked at my account on the 10th of September 4 days before the payment date and saw I was over my credit limit and immediately charged me £12

With out me knowing my balance is now £329.28 so my payment on the 11th of £40 brings my account down to 289.28 they then add the interest on of 6.16 which brings it up to 295.44 and to top it off I get another over limit fee charge of £12 because I went over the limit in the month so my closing balance is £307.44

Has any one else spotted two £12 charges on a bill for the same thing.

I phoned them immediately and explained that their two charges are just going to keep me in a vicious circle of constantly going over and they have agreed to refund the two charges. (Was on hold for 14 minutes to their 0870 number).

Now I’m wondering if two charges on one bill for the same thing is legit and should I be trying to get one of the previous months charges refunded.
