Iron Bed

Hi,

Can anyone suggest a good place to buy an iron bed? I'm considering getting one from Feather & Black (The Iron Bed Company), as they have a sale on at the moment. I found one review here, but there's just something about the it that's a bit fishy.

I want something that's fairly solid and isn't going to creak when you, you know... turn over ;)

Any help would be much appreciated

I've had a look at ikea, and unfortunately I don't like the designs they have at the mo.

Has anyone here bought from the Iron Bed Co.?

We have a bed from the old Iron Bed Company, and it is absolutely fantastic! VERY well built. Their matresses are great too...

Have you been to any of their shops to check it our for yourself?

Edit - to add more, as we were really, really impressed... We got ours in their sale about 4 years ago (still cost some £700 with the matress though!!) - the staff were really helpful. The sale version in our local store (Oxford) had been sold, but they found one in Bath and got pictures emailed to us of it's condition. We decided to go down to have a look ourselves (nice excuse for a day out to Bath!), and it was perfect. They also helped source two matching bed side tables - one from a store somewhere up north and one from somewhere up south. They got the relevant stores to send the bed, and two tables to their warehouse and delivered them all together to our new flat in London on the day we moved in. I really couldn't praise them enough.

Here's our bed... You can just about see one of the tables too! http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f318/Beads-and-things/Random/?action=view&current=bedroom.jpg

The table is the same, but our bed has suade panels on the head end of he bedstead...

I just looked at their web site and I can't believe how expensive they are. They charge £699 for the Tosca. You can get an almost identical bed on line for £152.

If you really believe that, then you will believe anything. Many bed retailers put a 400% to 500% mark up on beds. The one who sells for £152 doesn't.

Hmmm - I've seriously lost count of how many bed shops we went to while looking. Cheap beds are cheap beds... Most didn't look like the would last a quick kiss, yet alone anything more 'extensive' ;)

That's probably because you went to high street bed shops. You can find far better quality for your money from some internet based sellers because they don't have the overheads.
