Pub Car Park Parking Ticket.

Hi all, wondering if its worth contesting a parking ticket I got this morning?
I had to take my LO for his jabs and the car park I normally park in had bollards up so I couldn't get in. Everywhere else was double yellow lines or there were no spaces. I pulled into a nearby pub car park and parked up.
There were other cars parked in there, and another woman and her child were also parking at the same time as me. There was a wooden sign as you drive in saying 'Parking' then underneath 'Patrons Only', apart from that no other signs visable. There were approx 10 cars parked in the car park. This was at 10.05am.
I went to the clinic, baby had his jabs and I was back at the car at 10.25am. Didn't notice the fine until I got in the car. The woman who parked up the same time as me had gone so not sure if she had been fined too but none of the other cars had tickets on.
The ticket was written out at 10.10am, so just after I left.
He's obviously just making money off the fact that its private property. Is it worth appealing it?

Don't waste your time. Simply ignore it.0

Don't contest it, they will think they have you hooked.0

Ignore it? Says about court summons etc and I'm a worrier! DH says not to pay it too.Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference0

1. It's not a fine, it's a scam.
2. Ignore it, they've got nothing on you.Je suis Charlie.0 -
Well there is no contract as there are no signs, and even there was the invoice (not fine) is not enforceable . Who is the parking company ?Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

Yes, ignore it. If you received a chain letter telling you that your legs will fall off if you don't pay someone £50, would you believe it? No? Well this threat is equally worthless.
Who is "they", incidentally?Je suis Charlie.0 -
Don't pay it. Although I wouldn't condone parking in someone else's car park there are a number of ommissions on the pub's part.
1. The signs should state that they will charge you, and how much.
2. The 'how much' must equate to the losses they suffered as a result. Which in a free car park, is zero.
3. They must only pursue the driver, not the registered keeper. Don't tell them who was driving.
They won't take you to court, they'd lose and they know it.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
I love this site! Thanks everyone, very helpful.
Its says, 'EPN Parking Charge Notice (£60)' at the top.
'EPN administers the scheme on behalf of: Landlord of above public house.'
'(car details) was seen in circumstances which gave me reasonable cause to believe that contractual obligations indicated below have been accepted.'
'Vehicle was parked on private land where parking restrictions apply.'Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference0 -
I don't believe they are an BPA AOS accredited so they should not be able to contact you unless you give them your details. Do you have an address and phone number for them ? If they do contact you by the way they could be in breach of the dpa .Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. They'd have fun in court trying to establish that a sign saying Parking: Patrons Only formed a contract!!
What they've failed to realise is that it would be Trespass, not Contract. Under Trespass laws ONLY the landowner (or his solicitor) can pursue you for losses/damages. Again, that would be zero.
EPN can't pursue you for anything.Je Suis Cecil.1
