Kitchen Laminate worktop sizes

The kitchen we inherited has been formed from an extension. This in effect moved the kitchen from inside the old outside wall to outside, leaving the old kitchen as dining room. In their wisdom the old owners left the the wall about 18 inches higher than the new kitchen surfaces, so it forms a barrier. I want to take the wall down to the level of the kitchen surface and create a big single surface.

The problem is that combining the width of the existing units/surfaces in the kitchen and the additional width to go over the wall the width of the laminate I would be needing is 1m. I can only find 90cm widths.

I'm stuck. .Can anybody help or point me in the right direction?

Maybe if I could take the wall back a bit by getting rid of some of the old facing I could get down to 950mm. Can you recommend or point me to a supplier?

Most German kitchen manufacturers are able to supply 1200mm laminate worktops. Try a local independent that sells German kitchens and they should be able to help.

I know I will get flak for talking German kitchens again, but this is one of the many areas where German kitchens are better.

You could try Laminates Ltd. who are based in Sheffield, they do various bespoke worktop, as well as the standard sizes...

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
