JSA Assistance

Need some assistance and advice please on the following
My wife was made redundant from her job, with her last working day being Monday 13th August....
Thursday 16th August she had her "interview" at the job centre as per the application process for JSA. For the past 6 weeks she has been constantly chasing them up, first they say she hasn't paid enough NI. She has been working for 10 years, and this recent job she was earning 15,750 a year so was definitly paying enough NI and Tax....They kept promising to call her back etc
Now they have said that they don't believe she has worked for the past year. She has provided her P45 and P60, letter from the company she worked for...They are now demanding bank account statements to prove her wages?
It may not make a difference, but she is english, was born here all her family were born here. Has worked since she was 16, paid all the necessary taxes and NI etc and we are both getting to the end of our tether. Fortunatly my wage now covers just about all the bills, but we really need this money. It must be atleast £400 she is owed now
Has anyone any suggestions? Is it reasonable that they ask for bank statement to prove wages?

There can be issues around ni conts not being properly recorded, or even employers not paying them!
You need to provide them if you want benefit, or chase hmrc to get their records fixed.
Was she working full-time in tax years 9/10 and 10/11?
Any work done outside those tax years has no relevance,
If she earned 20k from april-now, for example, that would not count at all.
(Though would for a clam made last Feb)0 -
Thankyou for the reply
Yes she worked full time in both of those years...The main issue I can see about the NI is that she was made permanent in December 2011, prior to that she had been paid weekly by a temp agency for the past 3.5 years (started out as 1 temp agency, then they moved to another, and then a final one - all whilst working for the same company)
So I am pretty sure she didn't get a p45\p60 for when she effectively stopped being employed by the temp agency...When she got her end of tax year form thing (never remember if its p45 or p60), it only listed her earnings from when she was a permanent employee..so only 4 months worth)
If the jsa was only like 20 a week, but when we know she is entitled to 71 a week...starting to struggle with money now and they really aren't helping0 -
Not sure if im right here but would she still receive JSA with you working? I know if one partner works it affects benefits? xJanuary Grocery Challenge £203.50/£200

If she has the NI conts 9-10 and 10-11 then she would qualify for Cont JSA for six months.0 -
It looks as if the agency may not have paid the NI.0
