Plaster on carpet

I have just had a friend do some touching up on my plaster work in my dining room and hall due to damage a tenant caused a few years ago. However, as I have come to clean up I've noticed that there are patches of plaster on my carpet in both the dining room and the hall. Is there any way of getting it off without damaging the carpet? The carpet is only 2 years old and quite expensive. If you can't get the plaster off can I claim on my house insurance? As it was a friend doing the work he doesn't have his own insurance for it and I'd feel wrong claiming off him as he did it as a favour to me without actually charging me - I just bought the materials.

Think I'd try a vacuum cleaner whilst gently raking the pile with an old fork or similar..

Just had similar problem - vacuumed first then gently wetted the bits of plaster which eventually came away with a bit of hard brushing. Unfortunately had to clean entire carpet as patches where the plaster had been came up cleaner than the remainder!

I believe plaster is neutral and non reactive, so crush to break up, and vacuum. Washing should clean the remains. Plaster comes off clothing fairly easily. PVA is the problem if present.
