Buyer not paid - what should be the next step?

I am relatively new to ebay. My item sold 5 days ago. The buyer hasn't paid or responded to my emails. There is no listing fee as it was listed under 99p. He probably has changed his mind but I wish you would let me know so that I can relist it.
Should I leave a negative feedback on him first before I open a NPB case? I just don't want him to do this again - this time it was a cheap item and no other bidders but another time it could be a different story. Thanks for any suggestions.

you cant leave a negative for a buyer, but you can open npb dispute which means they will get a strike against there acccount

What will a NPB dispute involve? As I said there is no fee involved. I don't want to dispute if it is too much hassle - I just want to move on and relist it!

it means you will get your fees back so its worth doing, its not really a hastle its quite easy to do and if they get 2 strikes against them it means they will be barred from bidding by most ebay sellers

Whilst you didn`t pay insertion fees, you will pay a final valuation fee, which is about 10% of the final price the item went for.
You can only relist once the npb dispute has been done.otherwise you will end up paying fvf twice.
  • The strike is important, as you me and the rest of us can block non payers with two strikes or more.

Second one down, Tick - Buyers with unpaid items recorded
Change to 2 in one year. Click submit.

eBay should have this option ticked by default in my opinion. These people are time wasters. If they never get strike/strikes, then they will just carry on doing it.

You can see who's been blocked later on, on your

Thank you for the responses. Doing the NPB now but don't understand. I am on the unpaid item assistant preferences page and am given 2 choices - Yes, I want unpaid item assistant to open and close cases on my behalf and no thanks, I'll use the standard unpaid item process as needed, opening and closing cases manually.
What are they talking about!!! Don't understand it at all. can someone throw some light on it before I go and press the wrong button!
  • I just use the manual method (close it yourself in four days time). I only sell enough to attract one or two of them every few months. If you sell a lot then using ebays unpaid item assistant is probably a better option.
  • Hi there, before you use the NPB process, have you contacted the buyer to remind/ ask when they intend to pay?

I'd try that first and give it a day or so before then using the NPB process.

    hth,

I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here! :D

Yes, I have contacted him twice but no response. Done the NPB thing now so wait and see I guess.
  • Once you have done the NPB, make sure you have added him to your block list, so he cannot buy again.

Then, after 4 days, as long as he hasn't paid, you can close the dispute to get your final fees back and he will get his strike. Neither of you can leave feedback.
