Hi, I think i am being daft but I am not sure how these work. I have these at my new house and want to buy some ladders so i can fix our security light bulbs etc but i cannot see how these would stop them being removed easily. Any clues on what i am missing..

The vertical bit at the front goes in the hole then you should not be able to take it apart without force.
But they look fairly feeble. So I would use them to hold the ladders but get one of these to secure the ladders with a high quality chain or D lock.

Think you just hang the ladder on the lower part of the bracket(s) and lock the bar though the rungs, both stiles (side rails) don't go "inside" the bracket otherwise anyone could slide it out.:(
Looks like you might need a new lock:)
I'd drill a hole in the bottom part of the locking bar and use a lock at each end if I was going to use that bracket.
edit: They look more substantial in the link from MX5huggy.0 -
I have the one in 1st picture you have 2 one for each end of ladder. The bar that comes off fits through bottom hole then the top holes line up and locks. Its not that flimsey but i use a chain aswell. mine is fitted to 2 concrete fence posts and on a slight angle so rain runs off.0

I suppose its like most things if a thief is determined to take it then they will. Thanks for all the replies.0

I have two of these Sterling Ground or Wall Mounting Security Anchors
A similar sort of thing but can fit chains through it. It's only a ladder so providing it is fairly secure so that it prevents anyone from using the ladder to get to your upstairs, I doubt that anyone would go to excessive trouble to steal them.
