Item not as described?? Advice please....

So I purchased a jacket last weekend for a little lower than what these jackets seem to be selling for at the moment.

I made sure I read the description and looked at the photographs carefully before I committed to buy. The description says that the jacket was in excellent condition.

Received it today and although I haven't got the chance to fully inspect it the following things have struck me immediatly. Around the collar is lots of 'bobbling' of the fabric which would indicate a bit of wear. The same around the cuffs. The logo, which is important to the jacket, is cracked and broken and there appears to be a stain on the sleeve. Not sure at the moment if this can be removed by washing or not. I tried the jacket on and put my hand in the pocket and there is a hole in the lining in the pocket.

None of these items are visable in the photographs.

My first thoughts are that this is not 'excellent' condition. What do you think?

Incidentally they marked it as shipped on Tuesday but was only actually sent yesterday (but within their timescales for shipping) and the postage was less than what I paid although I'm not overally bothered about it as its only a pound but mention it more in passing.

  • First thing I would do is contact the seller, express your disappointment about the condition & see how they reposnd.

As I read your post and the bobbling, hole in pocket, I would not consider describing as "excellent" condition. Add to that the stain and cracked logo, then showing signs of wear and tear would have been a better description.

I'd take my time (so as not to come across angry) but list the things that you consider to exclude this from being "excellent" condition and make the sellerr aware of these. Do you want the jacket? Will you wear it? What do you want the outcome to be a partial refund or a return of the item?
  • Thank you for your advice.

I'm at work at the moment so I can't throughly inspect it more, and will do so later.

I think once I've had a chance to do that I'll have a better idea of what I'd like to do. I suppose I'm just disappointed because it was described as excellent condition I expect a little better.

I sell myself and I'm really paranoid about describing correctly.
  • Well I've now had some time to go over the jacket thoroughly. There are two stains on the same sleeve on top of the faults I noted in my OP. I do like the jacket however and it fits, I just feel a little put out that I could have spent another £5-10 and gotten a BNWT. In hindsight I should have done but as they described it in excellent condition.....

Not quite sure what to do tbh, I'm honestly not sure if the stains will come out in the wash. You do have to look for them (I asked OH to see if he could find them and at a look he couldn't).

I haven't sent anything to the seller yet, thoughts again please?! Lol
