How reliable is EON energy tracker?

Has anyone else used Eon's online energy tracker and do you find it an accurate representation of use or is it just a gimmic?

I recently had a call from them telling me that my usage is massive, ive never bothered to check it before.

They have put my monthly DD up to a whopping £270 per month!! so Im looking to switch. Their rep was really helpful in explaining things and thought I lived in a house full of people, which I dont. And also couldnt believe that we are out at work all day!!

The tracker states my gas usage is up by over 300% on last year. Problem is I had a brand new energy saving boiler installed last autumn so if anything would expect this to have gone down?!

BUT... ive been off work since beginning of August. Therefore Ive had TV/radio/pc on all day along with doing more washing etc and the usage for electricity doesnt reflect this, so now Im sceptical of its acuraccy.

Any advice/thoughts??

Check your bills to see if they are estimated or based on actual readings. You'll need these if you are going to use a comparison site.If not take readings submit them to EON and get an accurate figure for you annual use.
Start reading you gas and electric meters weekly.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • I won't take too much notice of the energy tracker if I were you. From my experience it is not accurate. Do as Penrhyn suggests.
