I went over the severn bridge toll & my debit card would not work on
any machine ( even the automatic one ) so as i had no cash on me was
given a NON PAYING ticket & had to put my car reg & name /address
on it & told i have 7 days to pay. There was no online facility on the
ticket to pay so as the form said sent a cheque for the amount of the toll
£6, Today i come back from holiday to find a demand letter from the company running this bridge for non payment but its for £91 . saying
pay now yada yada yada the usual rubbish. I have checked my account
& the cheque i sent has not yet been cashed ( 3 weeks ago i sent it )
This nothing short of extortion & now realize like a fool i should of
recorded delivered the cheque i sent. My question is do anyone know if
i have to pay this ? is it enforceable ?
thanks for your help.

Not quite sure on that to be honest, can you tell us if it says penalty or fine on the letter ? Does mention county court or small claims on there ?
Regarding your post, why you got a gap between each sentence ? Makes it difficult to read.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Failure to pay the toll without reasonable excuse is an offence. The bridge owners are entitled to recover the costs of the unpaid toll together with a reasonable sum to cover their costs - Severn Bridges Act 1992My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
Dont mean to sound rude but this is the problem of paying by cheque. My ex used to be the same - you just dont know if they have recieved it or not.
Not that I would imply that the operators of the Severn tunnel would ever just ditch payment so they could elicit a penalty but hey, you never know.
always by card.Or at least signed for delivery."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0
