letting agent troubles

A little complicated but need advice.
LL agreed to do work on house in april, including new bathroom, kitchen, redecoration.
Work on bathroom started at end of august. I agreed to stay with family as would have no bathroom. Realistically thought it would take 3-5 days.
I have since handed in notice on property and moved due to work. I was aware that I would be owing a months rent.
However, the property still has no bathroom 29 days from starting job. Also, other redecoration has started in my absence.
I have disputed rent as I cannot live at house due to no amenities.
They say I have to pay.
Where do I stand?

    1) which country?
    2) what type of tenany agreement? Dates?
    3) how was notices served? Dates?
    4) was anything about the renovations agreed in writing? Timescales?
    5) It's likely the property can be deemed 'uninhabitable' therefore LL should offer alternative or agree Early Surrender.

Your dispute is with the landlord not the letting agent. If your notice period has not finished you still have to pay rent and the landlord cannot enter the property without your consent (which I assume you gave for the bathroom only). Seems to me the landlord has terminated your tenancy early/ taken illegal possession. What do you have in writing about the recent events? Do you still have possessions at the property? Have you handed over the keys and completed the checkout?
