    I've been Money Tipped!
B_girl I have a few different nappies. By far the best are the Mothercare Smartnappies. I think they are very similar to Bambino Mio, a prefold with a wrap? I thought Bambino Mio needed to be folded like an old fashioned terry nappy though, and pinned together with a Nippa or pin? Smart nappies are just rectangle pads that fit into the wrap gusset. They are genius except Mothercare have discontinued them! I am keeping a close eye on ebay for Large size ones. Other wise, the baby has Lil Joeys which are all I ones and dry really fast and I have a set of Bumbles which I use as night nappies, these are the ones that take forever to dry, and a few Bambinex in there too. I also have some ebay cheapies which I am going to ditch. I have used them for DS and DD and managed to build up quite a collection, really need a good sort out! Good idea to look on Facebook groups!

I haven't come across the mothercare ones but they sound very similar to the bambino mios. It's a wrap with a cotton pad that can be folded into three and just goes into the wrap. No need for pins thank goodness! They've worked so well for me that I've not ventured into any other nappies. I must admit we use a disposable at night just for ease - haven't been brave enough to use cloth overnight!

I started my winter preps due to this thread a couple of years ago, so for the last couple of years, the things I have to buy is getting less and less. So this year I will be buying a new coat (I have been saving a bit all year so I have the money), and making some new door snakes. I also need another pair of winter pjs, which I will get in a couple of weeks.

I have to replenish my medicine tub with 'cold' stuff, and look my hot water bottles out and test them for leaks, and I will have to try the heating to make sure it works as well and get my snow boots, snow shovel out of the shed. So onwards and upwards.

    Hi

Realised today that I don't have a torch anymore, I've seen one in argos that is charged by winding the handle rather than battery operated.

Have any of you got one of these or tried them before?

    Re:drying washing in winter
We're in rented with no space or money to buy (or run) a tumble dryer but instead last winter we opted to buy a heated airer from lakeland.
    http://www.lakeland.co.uk/21736/Dry-Soon-3-Tier-Heated-Tower-Airer
It was the best £93 we ever spent. I love it! If you don't have much space there is a smaller airer and you have the option to only fold out one side for a narrow space etc..

As the weather is cooling down I thought i'd go through the wardrobe and see what could be put away soon and if I need and more long sleeve tops I have to have at least 3 different sizes due to my tummy being bigger some times well good news is I don't need many tops and could manage if I plan carefully but the bad news is every item in my wardrobe, even items I only washed a couple of days ago smell funny as in musty this has never been a problem before and I've lived here 29yrs has anyone else had this problem and do you have any ideas or suggestion I've took everything out and 1st load being rewashed now I had to spray a hoody like my kids do not good at all. I just hope it doesn't smell funny when i fo to wear it again I've got some of those vac bags from £land three travel one, I'm thinking of putting 1 set of each size in each bag then I'd at least have 1 set of clothes if it does happen again but can't keep rewashing them need to fix the problem , I n also leave the wardrobe doors open for at least half of the day

  • Wantanorange,

Just a thought--might this be the problem with your TD?

Thanks FairyPrincess I don't have a tumble any more but my daughter does so thought I'd take a peek I like it when it's simple to fix and found a video showing how to replace door seal for a washing machine so thanks for that now I only need to save up for the door seal luckily on a mini load option it doesn't leak

  • Glad to have been of help.
  • In our kitchen we have the back door and a window to the side and on the wall underneath we have a cat flap. None of these windows/doors have any curtains up so I managed to get some beautiful furnishing fabrics at £2 a metre so am going to make something up to try and keep it warmer and hopefully make it more private!

DD is off to uni in September to study to be a vet so that will be one less room to heat :j

We now have new blinds up in the bathroom. I've treated myself to a lovely chunky jumper today. Whilst in town I had a look for some boots for work but didn't see any I like, I'll keep looking.

DH and I went to the farm shop and used our 20% off voucher to stock up on some meat for the freezer. We were given another voucher to use in September and our loyalty card is full so on our next visit we will get free sausages of our choice.

I've still got quite a bit of room in the freezer so need to get thinking about winter meals.

The weather forecast is a little better for the weekend so I will be making the most of it by washing and gardening.

    Have a lovely evening.
