Sky sports on your tv via laptop ?

Look to buy a new laptop which will have a HMDI socket.

I have a sky sports subscription, and wonder if it will be possible, to watch sky "on the go", at a friends house, on his
large screen tv, using the HMDI output on the laptop, to the
HMDI input on the tv, using the appropriate lead.

I have seen conflicting answers to this, so sorry if it is something that has been covered before.

If I cannot watch sky in this way, would iplayer be the same ?

Thanks in anticipation.

Right your parents have a Sky subscription and you don't want to change the habit of a lifetime by stopping sponging off them.
You want to watch Sky at your flat using their account.

Yes it can be done my son does it.

You'll need a fast broadband and the picture won't be that great - but it will work
