Redundancy and benefits

Currently my partner works full time and I am not working, we have 3 children, and recieve a small amount of tax credits weekly.
My partners company have now gone into administration and everyone is to be made redundant - he will recieve around £12,000 redundancy pay, but not for up to 12 weeks later.
What benefits would we be able to claim? Would we get more tax credits or would my partner have to claim jsa, and would the £12,000 be counted toward any benefit award? I am a bit worried about how we are going to live if we have 12 weeks to wait!

Your partner must make a claim for JSA on the first day that he is made redundant as this cannot be backdated.
You can also claim HB and CTB.
You should notify HMRC of your change of circumstances.
Once he receives his redundancy pay which shoud include holiday pay/pay in lieu of notice etc. there will be a review of his entitlement because you will now have savings. His contribution based JSA will remain because it is not means tested but you may not receive as much HB and CTB.
I am not quite sure how it works. I think that any benefits that he would not have been entitled to during the notice period will be deducted automatically from the redundancy money package.
A link here but not clear (to me anyway!)
