The window motor - Passenger side - front on my X reg Renault Megane Coupe has started making a 'crunching' sound when in use and going maybe 3 inches up or down.
In certain positions its possible to move the window with your hand to push it home (from open) which is worrying from s security aspect.
Anyone have any advice? My initial thoughts were either the motors kaput or mech is sliding but can't afford to pay for confirmation and wanted advice before looking at new motors or regulators!
The floors open folks!

Hi, as a windscreen fitter I have changed hundreds of door glasses in a massive variety of cars but never in yours. My best educated guess is thus.
Most window mechanism run via a thin metal cable ( like a push bike brake cable), this wire is looped around a metal vertical arm that glass is attached onto via a plastic clip. What can happen is the wire jumps off the vertical arm causing it to coil up. Also the plastic clip holding the glass can break causing the same problem. If you can move window by hand it seems that one of the above has happened, When you move the window with button does it make a very labored noise from motor? I suspect so. You will need a new mechanism, try ebay0 -
As above, new mech. The motor is usually part of this.0
