Ebay allowance - what happens if item sells for higher price?

I have listed an item on ebay and was about to list a few more when I noticed that I have a selling allowance of 10 items or £650 (whichever comes first), so I have held off listing anything else as the one item I have listed could potentially reach £650 (with a bit of luck!).
My question is what would happen if the item did reach more than £650, would I still have to sell it for £650?
Luckily I put on a 10 day listing and have applied for a higher limit which I should receive in 3 to 5 days, does anyone know how much they are likely to put the limit up to?
Sorry for the stupid questions, I am a bit of a novice at Ebay!
Thanks

I think in that instance your higher limit would be over ruled as ebay cannot stop people bidding. You might ask live help though to make sure.
Just make sure for a high value item you have sorted out your courier and are happy you have full coverage in case of loss or damage.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Just in case anyone is interested, I got the increase in my allowance, they upped it to £3,500. I can't say if they would do the same for everyone but just for info in case others have the same question.
I was surprised it was so much!0 -
They did something similar for my brother recently. He sold a camera, but the buyer was a scammer (didn't pay, wanted to negotiate it to be sent to Nigeria... blah blah blah). Got the transaction cancelled but still showed up in his sales so he had to get the limit put up so he could relist it.
PITA but it seems they don't mind doing so if you are genuine. I think it's just a scammer protection thing to new users registering, listing tons of things they don't have and then disappearing with thousands. This way they only get away with a little bit."So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0
